New Idea

My eventual goal of 150lbs seems so far away from this point.  To lose the weight healthily it will take at least a year to get to that point and sometimes I must admit I think that is the part of the reason I have struggled so much.

SO time to set some smaller goals!

I am gonna look at this as a 6 month health drive! and take it in small blocks.

By the end of the 6 months (weigh ins are Tues so will make it 25th August) I want to have lost about 50lbs to get to 13st 5lbs (187lbs).

I want to lose about a stone (14lbs) in this first month (by 21st April),

another stone by 2nd June,

another by 4th August

and then reach my 50lb total by 25th August.

Now all I need is an action plan!

Eating-wise: 3 healthy meals with smaller portions than I have been eating, and 2 healthy snacks per day, 1 treat per week to have something to look forward to and keep me on track.

Exercise: four 30-minute sessions per week.

Then after the 6 months are over I will be fitter, happier and healthier and I can get started on a new plan to lose the rest.

The idea at the moment is when it’s over give myself another 5-6 weeks to lose about 12lbs by the time I get back to uni at the end of September/beginning of October. I will then be the weight I was when I started college when I was happy and confident and more comfortable at a size 16 (US size 12).

At least by then I will be feeling much better about myself and even if the rest of the weight loss is slow, I will be happier. That is what is important, so I need to focus on getting myself to a point where I am feeling more positive rather than focusing everything on my eventual goal of a healthy weight.

I will get there, and 6 months doesn’t sound quite as long as over a year lol :) I’m actually looking forward to it! x

Today’s Weight Watchers Success Story

So when I re-started my Weight Watchers plan, I decided that each day I would read a success story to keep me motivated.

The great thing about the site is that you can search for stories that match your situation e.g. the amount of weight you need to lose.

The area I searched today was for those who “exercised it off” seeing as I have taken on gwen’s small challenge (See last blog if interested in joining) and I read a story about a student of a similar age to me who did moderate exercise while she lost the weight, but when she put half a stone back on she stepped up the exercise to make sure she got back to her goal weight and stayed there.

From this, I have learned that it is important to exercise throughout my weight loss, and it is also important to make sure I am always boosting my fitness levels by working out harder as I get used to it.

After the challenge, I will start setting out 4 week exercise plans to stick to and reassess them at the end of each one to decide what I can do to push myself further and keep the weight coming off.

Food-wise, she suggested stocking up on fruit and veg as they are great for snacking and low in Weight Watchers points value so obviously that is another good tip which I will stick with!

Today is going well, going to do my 30mins on the exercise bike in a couple of hours time, will blog again tomorrow.

Hope you guys are doing well! x

Gwen’s Small Challenge

Follow this link if you’re interested: http://www.weight-loss-forums.buddyslim.com/weight-loss-groups/4024-starting-over-26.html#post157586

(Scroll about half way down the page for the 1st mention)

The lovely Gwen has set a challenge to get us moving.  It is to do either:

30mins on the exercise bike per day, 30mins on the treadmill per day, or 40miles on the exercise bike per week starting today (Thurs 5th March) til next week (Thurs 12th March).

If you don’t have easy access to an exercise bike and treadmill then she has posted a few other ideas to get us moving for the week so check them out.

I am taking on the 30mins exercise bike per day challenge and will keep you posted on how I am doing. This is just the start I need to get me into exercise!! Thanks a lot Gwen!

Come on guys, join us in the forum and let’s do this together!! x

Complete Re-Start

Hey guys,

It feels a little embarrassing to be posting yet ANOTHER “fresh start” style blog as there have been sooooo many over the past year but I know that we have all struggled with our weight and had false starts otherwise we wouldn’t all be here!!

I have re-thought my diet plan (again) and decided to start with weight watchers again because although the “NO S” diet (no snacks, no sweets, no seconds except for days that start with s [sat, sun and “special” days]) was good in theory, I ended up bingeing at weekends rather than having 1 or 2 treats!

Weight Watchers provides me with some structure of portion sizes and snacking allowances so I think it will be best for me right now!

I am also going to take on gwen’s “small challenge” in the start over forum (which I cannot actually find but have just messaged gwen so will blog with details for anyone interested asap) which is basically a week long challenge beginning tomorrow - Thurs 5th March - in which you commit to doing 30mins exercise bike per day, 30mins on treadmill per day or 40miles on exercise bike in a week or even a couple or all of those!

I had an exercise bike for christmas, and getting into exercise has been one of my greatest challenges so I am going for the 30mins exercise biking per day for a week and that should get me going on my long term exercise plan!!

I am going back to reading at least 1 motivating weight watchers story per day to keep me on track, and will blog every day as that really worked for me last year!

Hope to get back into contact with my old buddies, and make some new ones :)

Love you guys, thanks for all your support, I really feel a change in me these days, I want to lose weight more than anything right now, and I really want to do that with you guys x
