Today was not so great

Right this post will prob be full of excuses but I am going for it anyway lol.  I went to see my boyfriend today (he lives in a different city, about 1hr 15min drive away) so obviously I had a little less control over what to have food wise.  But yesterday I discussed it with him and we decided what we could have for lunch and then I said I would have some dinner when I had gone home and I intended to take a healthy snack with me cuz I often need a bit of something to munch on mid afternoon.  I was in a bit of a rush this morning though and didn’t want to leave too late incase there was a lot of traffic on the motorway so completely forgot about the snack.

Well to cut a long story short I thought I would use my remaining syns to have a cookie at his but of course I didn’t just have the 1 - I had a few and I still haven’t been brilliant this evening since getting home.  BUT I am not going to beat myself up about it too much!  My parents and younger brother had an indian take out meal tonight and I went for a jacket potato instead so that is 1 good thing.  And they have this thing called “flexible syns” (I think this is the term they use for it) which basically means you can go a bit crazy with the syns 1 day and it shouldn’t affect your weight loss.  Obviously it wouldn’t be a great idea to do it on a regular basis but I  guess they promote it cuz you are more likely to get straight back into the plan the next day rather than use it as an excuse to turn 1 bad day into a terrible week.

Something I have noticed as well I actually feel almost unwell.  I can feel that I haven’t been eating healthily today and I don’t like it.  For a while now (before I started this eating plan) I had been feeling like this all the time and obviously I knew it was due to the extra weight but of course it is also a direct link to the food I had been eating.  For me, nothing quite beats the feeling at night now when I go to bed feeling “fresh” inside if that makes sense lol.  Feeling good and positive and HEALTHY.  I have planned tomorrow out properly and I WILL have that feeling again tomorrow.

The reason I am not giving myself a hard time is cuz I don’t see the point.  Just cuz I screwed up today doesn’t mean I am gonna give up, and just because I know I am ready to do this doesn’t mean I am not gonna slip up along the way.

Also, my new exercise dvd that I ordered arrived today so I am gonna try and do that tomorrow and in the week.  It may be a little difficult with all the family being off college and work but I am hoping to use my younger brother’s room so I can have a bit of privacy and use his playstation to play the dvd lol.

I will let you know how I go on with that.  If I don’t manage to do the dvd I will do my 30min music workout where I have a bit of a boogie to my workout playlist on my ipod lol.  Gotta burn off those extra calories =) and I am still feeling confident for a loss on tuesday! :D x

Sounds like you are doing great! I know what you mean with feeling “fresh” when you eat the right foods. Good luck with the new exercise video:)

Your very optimistic, which is great! We are human, we will have good days and boy will we have bad ones, the idea is to remember that this is a lifestyle change and with that said sweets will always be around, but its called choice. If you choose to eat a sweet, just make it up by working out a bit longer or being more strict during the rest of the week with your calories. You sound like your doing great tho! Keep it up!

I’ glad that you are not giving up! We all have our bad days from time to time. THe real battle is getting back up when you fall. I think you have that mastered. THanks for your sweet comment about Zumba. You should try it! It’s fusion of Latin and International music that makes you feel like you are dancing and not simply exercising! I loved it! But it is a hellava work out! Have a great weekend!

Great job. It really doesnt help to beat yourself up for one slip up as long as you get right back on your healthy eating. I do know what you are talking about that fresh inside feeling at night. I usta have major heartburn whenever I went to bed, but not anymore it does feel good to feel good. Stay strong -Dee

Your attitute is excellent. It IS a process, of learning , of retraining ourselves, and discovering where we go off the rails and why. It helps us learn how to better deal with those kind of situations in the future. I loved your comment about feeling fresh. What a great way to describe it! It does make a big difference how we feel , when we eat healthy.

It’s good that you are able to be flexible and not let a few cookies ruin your week. I know what you mean about not feeling right when you eat the wrong food and the good feelings when you eat right. Having identified this it should be easier to repeat it.
